Jobs:
What is a "job"?
A "job" is the name given to the specific threads player write in order to acquire more money, possessions, NPCs, or to significantly interact with or attack NPCs. For example, if your character is stopping by a coffee shop to have a drink and relax, that isn't considered a 'job' and doesn't need to be graded. If you want to collect money from an underling, or purchase a business, or kill someone - or anything like that, you need to write a job with a list of requests at the end.
What does it mean for a job to be "graded"?
Once you finish a job, you need to post it in the 'Grading Center' subforum. Then, an administrator will grade your piece. This means they will read the job you have written and also read your list of requests at the bottom. They will respond to the post with either a counter or a grading. The grading will tell you which of your requests have been granted.
What happens when a job gets countered?
When a job is countered, it just means that the administrator is giving you an additional set of challenges to respond to. If your job involved a gunfight, the administrator may respond with a police presence or an unexpected twist. You are then required to react to this counter and resubmit your requests. The grader will then grade the piece normally. Usually, if a player successfully counters a piece, they will receive bonuses and rewards.
Do I have to get everything I write graded?
Not at all! Jobs are only used when you want to acquire something: money, possessions, NPCs, and so on; or if you want to interact with or attack NPCs. If you simply want to interact with a player, or if two players want to perform a transaction with objects they already own, you do not need to have your posts graded.
What are the different job types?
There aren't really any limits to what you can do in a job. Certain rules apply when attacking other players (see the player versus player guide for more information), but outside of that; your imagination is the limit! Just keep things reasonable and well-explained, and you can do whatever you set your mind to.
Do I make up my own jobs or get them from administrators?
Both! If you want to head out and do something on your own, feel free to do so. If you want to get involved with an NPC faction (or just don't really feel like coming up with your own idea for a job), you can receive work from an admin-controlled NPC.
Can multiple players participate in the same job?
Absolutely! Just post together in the same thread. At the end of the job, split up your requests by player so the grader knows exactly who is requesting what. Other than that, treat a job with multiple players on it the same as any other job.
Can I attack another player during a job?
Yes! See the guide on player-versus-player activities for more information about attacking other players, their NPCs, and their property.
