As I'm sure you can see, the RPG is currently a little threadbare. I would love to get input from any new or interested players.
What would you like to see from this game? What can I do to create a better experience for newcomers?

Some new buttons would be cool if you can find anything that looks nicer than the folders. Also it'd be nice to have bigger dimension restrictions on avatars.

Yeah, I'll try and find some better looking icons.
As for the avatar sizes: I've been trying, but, for the life of me, I can't find a way to change the restrictions on the actual avatars... only on the display box sizes inside the "profile" menu. I think it might be a ProBoards restriction, but I'll keep trying at it.

Hmm, still can't find the avie size?
Would be nice to have a forum for organizations and whatnot. I think with the idea of lore and NPC families you should give players the option to do work/join them. That way we can have a safety net in the beginning and maybe eventually take over the crew.
Also: I kinda like the idea of not having to start a character from scratch. If we were able to start out with one business that makes, say, 5-20k per week depending on how much effort we put into it (any more and you should have to put money into renovations, or something). That also brings up collections, and whether or not you'd want us to write about the collections or not. I would be against writing for collections since it always seems forced and stale, but upgrading the businesses or turning them into fronts for illegal shit is always fun. I really think the idea of property and territory could be really big aspects in terms of organizations playing the game. Even individuals for that matter.

Yeah... looks like a lot of other forum owners have had the same problem with the avatar size, I don't think freeforums.net really has a solution for them. I guess it's because of their custom avatar options and the size restrictions that puts in place. I'ma keep trying though.
As for not starting from scratch-- that's something I've been thinking about. What if we had two different ways of starting off? You could either start right off the bat, with $5000, and just get right into the RPG. Or, you could create a "pre-made" character, with a backstory and some explanation for why you think you should start with certain things (NPCs, houses, cars, businesses, whatever)... and if it was approved, you could start off that way? It would kind of suck if it meant players had to wait for forever to get up off the ground, though... maybe everyone gets a 'voucher' for one free vehicle of a certain value and one free piece of real estate of a certain value?
I agree with you when it comes to collections. I'm thinking I won't require players to write out their collections, but they will have to include either in the description of the business or their NPCs exactly how the money gets brought back to them, if its in cash (i.e. which NPC makes the collections and on what days) so that other players have a chance to do robberies.
I'm a little torn on the organization forums. On the one hand, I'd love to create a rich backstory and lore for everyone to read up on and understand to work into their pieces. But on the other hand -- I think that "fact-finding" and requesting information are going to be important factors for this game. I'm a little afraid people might metagame the information if they read about the organizations beforehand. But, maybe not. It might be worth it just to get people started with NPC factions, anyways.

Good stuff! I figure the avatar restrictions are for saving data or space for the provider so you're probably right on not having a way around that. No big deal.
I think it's fair to need the backstory approved, especially having the choice between that or a business, car, etc. Even being able to include that in our first RP would be ideal - it's something I wanted to do on this character. Maybe I can give it the trial run and see what you think.
Good idea on the collections & organizations, makes perfect sense to me. Perhaps there could be a forum visible to players only once they join a crew or have a sort of informant equivalent to MRPG's "Street" where it's all IC messages/announcements. A black market sort of deal that you have to have proven you can be trusted to view.
Also, no worries on the grade. I was only hoping you were going to stick around here.
Cheers! Happy holidays.

I'm starting to think maybe I'm over-complicating the whole backstory and pre-approved items and everything... I think you're on to something when you said they should be able to do that in their first RP. What if everyone's first RP is considered their introduction and they can request anything (house, business, car, etc) that they provide a reasonable backstory for in the piece -- but then for all of their jobs after that first one, the regular request rules apply? I think that might be the most streamlined way to do it. People who want to start off with things can, and people who want to start off with very little can, too. Plus, doing it through requests means the staff will be able to deny/modify any unreasonable "starting" requests.

Started putting the organization forum up. Might take a while, though: I'm realizing now that there are going to need to be a lot of factions considering how many cities I made!
